21 STEPS
1. This is a tutorial of the new process (starting October 4, 2021) for WQSB students to access Windows desktop and laptop computers across the school board.
2. The default format is a click-through, interactive tutorial in English, but click ☝🏻 Try It in the toolbar above these instructions to switch the format. You can also click on the translation symbol in this same toolbar to switch the language.
3. The first step is to wake the computer from sleep or turn it on.
4. Click in the User name field and enter your WQSB user name which is the portion of your email address before @wqsb.qc.ca.
Teachers, administrators, and school secretaries can access a list of student usernames and passwords from GPI/iGPI.
5. Click in the Password field and enter your WQSB password. This is the same password used to access Microsoft Office 365, your student email, and Teams.
Remember that passwords are case-sensitive, contain letters and numbers, and are reset each year.
6. Once your username and password have been entered, click on the Arrow or press Enter on the keyboard.
7. This will bring you to the WQSB Windows 10 home screen.
To access the internet and your WQSB Microsoft Office 365 account, double-click on the Google Chrome web browser desktop shortcut.
8. The first time you sign in to a WQSB Windows computer with your username and password, you will also have to sign in to the Chrome browser. When this is done once, you will not be asked again on that same machine.
9. Click Person 1 Sign in.
10. Click in the Email or phone field and enter your full WQSB email address including @wqsb.qc.ca.
11. Click Next.
12. This will bring you to the WQSB Sign in screen. Click in the Email, phone, or Skype field. Enter your WQSB email address including @wqsb.qc.ca one more time.
*Remember that this process will only have to be done the first time you use the machine.
13. Click Next.
14. Click in the Password field and enter your WQSB email address.
15. Click Sign in.
16. This will open Google Chrome and sign you into the browser using your WQSB profile. This allows you to access your bookmarks, browsing history, and passwords anywhere you use your WQSB Chrome profile, whether at school or at home.
Click Yes, I'm in.
17. In this Window, you can enter your full name for your Chrome profile and choose a colour theme.
Once complete, click Done.
18. You are now signed into the Chrome browser using your WQSB profile. This allows you to access preset bookmarks and extensions.
Click the WQSB bookmarks folder shortcut to access some commonly used sites.
19. Here you can see shortcuts to some commonly use website.
Click Microsoft Office 365.
20. This will bring you to the office.com homepage. Click Sign in.
Since you are already signed into the Chrome browser, you will automatically be taken to the Office 365 home screen without having to re-enter your username and password.
21. Here is your Microsoft Office 365 home screen. You can use it to quickly access files you have recently used, favourited, or that have been shared with you.
That's it. You're done!
