AI’s impact on Bloom’s Taxonomy

Hello everyone! Today’s post was spurred by a great question posed by our WQSB Mathematics and Science Consultant, Jeff Harvey, during a recent session he delivered: “AI in the Secondary Classroom: Tools and Strategies for Math/Science Teachers”:

This got me thinking of resources I have come across this past year related to AI’s impact on the traditional Bloom Taxonomy framework.

First, a look at AI capabilities versus distinctly human skills at each level of the traditional taxonomy:

From: Bloom’s Taxonomy Revisited – Artificial Intelligence Tools – Faculty Support | Oregon State Ecampus

Next, an inversion of the traditional model in an AI-integrated world:

From: Process Over Product, Mindset Over Toolset: Inverting Bloom’s Taxonomy for Teaching AI | by Megan Workmon Larsen

Finally, a potential new learning taxonomy for a world with ubiquitous AI:

From: A Post-AI Learning Taxonomy – by Dr Philippa Hardman

Food for thought as we re-envision teaching and learning in the age of AI,
Stuart
